Lake McConaughy— Big Mac.
Nebraska's largest reservoir. White-sand beaches that feel coastal. World-class walleye and trout. A short drive from downtown Ogallala.
From downtown to the lake in 15 minutes.
Take Highway 61 north out of Ogallala and the prairie suddenly gives way to the long curve of Kingsley Dam. Big Mac stretches west for 22 miles — boats on the water, tents on the sand, and pelicans skimming the surface.
Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area surrounds the reservoir with eight access areas, more than 1,000 campsites, marinas, boat ramps, and miles of beaches you can actually drive your truck onto.

Sunset at Martin Bay
